When a link is "clicked on" and it does not take you to the correct destination, but instead an error message appears, the link is broken.

The internet is dynamic and changes always. So many pages are added and removed every day. So, some of your links may break from month to month.

Broken links drive customers away and also make a bad effect on your page rank. They keep search engine spiders from properly indexing your site.

Search engine robots use the links on the pages of your site to follow to other pages at your site. The more pages they crawl, the more content they gather.  The more content they gather, the more valuable your site appears to them, and your ranking will be higher! 

There are so many websites and free tools that test broken links, only search such as these terms in search engines: “free broken link checker” or “broken link testing”.
